What ceramic coating does for your paint

Ceramic coating in Clearfield County is shop work at 60 Dodge Rd in Glen Hope. Coating wants clean paint, a steady temperature, and air with no dust in it, which is exactly what a proper bay is for.

Prep is most of the job. Once the paint is properly prepared and stripped of old wax, the coating bonds to it and leaves a hard, glossy surface that dirt struggles to cling to. Washing gets quicker and the finish keeps its depth.

Coating and paint protection film solve different problems. Film takes the stone chips. Coating handles gloss, water, and wash day. Plenty of vehicles get both: PPF across the front end, coating over everything.

Bring the vehicle in Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Call (814) 931-4796 first or book on Square so we can set aside enough time for the prep.

What we use, and what it costs

The coating is GlassParency Graphene. One layer is $499. Every additional layer after that is $150, so a two-layer job comes to $649 and a three-layer to $799.

Layers are not an upsell for the sake of it. More layers means more sacrificial thickness sitting above your clearcoat, which is what gets worn down by washing and weather over the years. One layer suits a car that lives in a garage. Vehicles that sit outside through a Clearfield County winter and take road salt on I-80 are the ones that get the most out of a second or third.

Prices above are for the coating itself. Paint that needs correcting first is quoted separately, because the amount of work varies enormously between a two-year-old car and one that has been through ten winters and a few automatic washes.

Cure times, and what you can do in the meantime

The coating needs 24 hours to cure before the vehicle can get wet. That is the number that matters on the day you collect it. Park it under cover if rain is forecast that first night.

Full cure takes 14 days. During that fortnight the coating is still hardening, so leave the automatic car washes alone and keep it away from anything abrasive. A rinse and a gentle hand wash is fine.

Once it is fully cured you are looking at around 5 years of durability. Washing gets easier, water beads and runs off instead of sitting on the panel, and dirt has less to hold onto.

We cover Clearfield County, Pennsylvania and the surrounding towns. Call (814) 931-4796 or book online and we will confirm the details.

Coating

Common questions

No. Coating is a liquid that cures onto the paint and helps with gloss and washing. Paint protection film is a physical layer that takes stone chips. We install both at the shop.

Coating is booked into the Glen Hope shop. It needs a clean bay and a controlled temperature to cure properly, so the vehicle comes to 60 Dodge Rd.

Yes, and a lot of customers do exactly that. PPF across the front for the chips, coating over the whole vehicle so all of it washes the same way.

It depends on the size of the vehicle and the state of the paint, because prep takes the time rather than the coating itself. Call (814) 931-4796 and we will give you a realistic window when we book it in.
